Dan & Rosie’S WEDDING at the dickens inn, london

Taking a stroll in London on your wedding day is such a fun opportunity. Dan and Rosie took a break after their wedding service at St Helen’s Bishops Gate to walk around the Leadenhall Market just around the corner. It was lovely to see people’s faces light up and share their congratulations. Then we went to The Dickens Inn at St Katherine’s Dock to join the guests and start the party.

wedding morning preparations

Dan got ready at their home which is undergoing some upgrades. Fuelled by a round of bacon sandwiches the lads had a strong start to the morning, getting into their kilts and taking the underground to the church.

The girls had a quirky Airbnb just off Brick Lane. It had a four-poster bed, the ideal spot for doing hair and make-up. Rosie and her Dad drove over to the church in Dan’s Mini.

It felt exciting to be part of the wedding in this historic space. Yet with their guests there, especially all the sweet babies, it also felt really personal and connected. Dan and Rosie’s dog was their ring bearer which got the congregation grinning. They signed the schedule with their bridal party and families, and then the whole team walked down the aisle and headed outside to greet the newly-minted couple.

Back in the warm, we gathered the whole crowd for a big group photo. Then tea and cake were served while we were outside taking a few group photos.

St Helens is very close to the Gherkin, so there were lots of tourists around, admiring their Mini and delighted to spot the newlyweds. They had the best confetti getaway with the whole crowd cheering, even passersby. Then they jumped in the Mini and stopped off at some cool local spots for couples photos, first Leadenhall Market then a short drive to St Dunstan’s in the East for a few more photos in the church ruins.

We enjoyed spotting all kinds of landmarks from our Uber the rest of the way to the venue, including a crowd of furries!

At the venue, there was time for mingling, chatting and warming up in the bar before the speeches. Rosie’s Dad hit the ground running with a surprising level of innuendo, much to our amusement (and Rosie’s horror). Dan, Adele (Rosie’s sister) and the Best Man followed with thoughtful thank yous and funny stories. There was a prize round of drinks for the table who most closely predicted the length of the speeches.

Dinner was served under the twinkling fairy lights. From the windows, you can spot Tower Bridge.

After the meal guests moved through to the bar as the evening guests arrived. We started the Photo Booth on the mezzanine and everyone returned to the main room, which was ready for the ceilidh. Rosie changed into her dancing outfit, which I think was impeccable.

There was a spectacular pizza buffet, which hit the spot. And after a lot more dancing the night ended with a human tunnel to send them off on a high note.

Happy anniversary you two, here’s to even more fun adventures - love Nom x
