Kat and Alex had their wedding at one of our favourite Birmingham wedding venues, Highbury Hall. We love Highbury because it’s a beautiful understated gem that’s full of history.
We knew we’d have a great time with Kat and Alex on their wedding, after we really connected on our pre-wedding shoot with them and their gorgeous little daughter, Elsie. You’ll spot her stealing the show as flower girl. Their guests were really fun too. Look out for some big antics.
We have a lot love for their guests who ran wild, laughed hard, pulled silly faces, and supplied emergency fried chicken. Elsie also ate some flowers.
wedding morning preparations
The boys arrived at Highbury Hall ready and suited up. We were impressed with Alex’s best man who supplied Alex with some emergency last-minute fried chicken. There was a cute moment when Alex presented his best man with a pocket watch. And then it took them ages put them on. They got some beers in and we took a few group shots while Kat to snuck upstairs to get ready.
Kat arrived and greeted some family before hiding away upstairs. She had a quiet time with her mum and bridesmaid Gaby. They helped Elsie get into her flower girl dress and then got the wedding dress on.

Their guests started off getting drinks at the beautiful, old bar, then headed through for the ceremony.
Elsie set the pace for the bridal party procession. As she walked down with Kat’s mum she fixed everyone with a curious look. The ceremony was short and beautiful and Kat and Alex grinned all the way through.

Everyone headed out of the glass door onto the patio for drinks. We got everyone together for a grand shot of the whole wedding party in front of the Hall, then some group shots on the lawn. While people were still chilling we snuck out to the park with Kat, Alex and Elsie. We captured some cute family moments and Elsie was relaxed and enjoyed all the attention. When we sat her on the lawn so we could snap some pictures of her parents she may have had a munch on a daisy or two.
We went back inside for the wedding breakfast and speeches. The Highbury team love to get the meal started with the couple making their entrance down the grand staircase. It’s a fun ceremonial moment for guests to clap and cheer the newly weds. Kat’s Dad started the speeches, Alex’s was sweet and the best man shared a great video clip from the stag. We loved the fun insights from all three of them.
After dinner kids and adults let off steam in the garden. With a few drinks (adults only) and some rolling down the grassy hill (kids and adults).
Kat and Alex cut the wedding cake and everyone followed them to the dancefloor for the first dance. We love their DJ- Mr Ed Steele-fox, so we obviously had a fun night, and the guests seem to enjoy his tunes too. There were some beautiful moves on the dancefloor. The photo booth has its own little room at Highbury just off the dancing space. People mooched around enjoying the outdoor space, the dancefloor, the photo booth and the bar.
