james & Becky’s WEDDING at the Ashes BarnS
Our favourite story of this wedding has to be James helping Becky’s Mum to smuggle a hamster into the on-site accommodation at the Ashes Barn… and the team there spotting the cage and asking us discreetly what was going on! (If you’re thinking of booking a wedding at the Ashes Barns don’t be planning to bring pets with you. But do say hi to their resident cat)
Aside from that the morning was full of fun with the girls in the Dressing Room which is right next door to the ceremony space.
the wedding ceremony at the ashes barns
Becky’s nieces were the perfect flower girls, joining in the procession down the aisle flawlessly, followed by the bridesmaids and Becky walking down the aisle with her Mum.
All the guests gathered outside for a big group photo - and canapes, which is probably more their motivation! We took some group photos with their family and friends, and the Highland cows who live in the field next to the courtyard.
After a bit of time to mingle and chat we spotted the forecast was turning wet so we took Becky & James for some pictures in the grounds, away from the guests before the rain came. We love how these two are in love, the romantic gardens of the Ashes Barns made it a doozy to capture.
“ A million thanks. Honestly, we couldn't thank you more. Down to your attitude to everyone, fitting in all of our requests, making us feel comfortable and getting everyone smiling but especially for bringing our couples photos forward when you realised the weather was changing - it was perfect timing and saved the dress!”
their wedding breakfast
We all took shelter from the rain and headed in to eat the wedding breakfast. Through the window there was the most beautiful rainbow!
James’ Dad stepped into big shoes, to give the Father of the Bride speech. He and James handled the speeches so beautifully in tricky circumstances, with a huge dose of humour. We were genuinely impressed.
“ How could we pick out any one moment from a day full of perfect memories and magical moments. The whole day, from the ceremony, the food, the speeches and the after party was fantastic. ”
It was a fun night on the dancefloor with some particularly enthusiastic (borderline aggressive) dancing from their guests. The booth was upstairs on the balcony, getting its fair share of the fun and overlooking the action in the main space below.
We snuck away from the action for a few photos out under the stars with Becky & James, which was such a beautiful way to end their wedding day.
Happy anniversary you two! - with love Nom x
