matt and Amy’s WEDDING at milton Keynes art gallery
Our favourite weddings are always the ones which have only the bits that make sense for the couple. These two smashed it. A quiet ceremony which was perfectly personal, followed by a fun and slightly geeky reception with their favourite quiz master.
wedding morning preparations
Matt & Amy spent the morning getting ready together at Hotel La Tour. We met them in the lobby to walk through the underpass to Milton Keynes Gallery. Their guests were waiting outside and excited to see them.

The ceremony felt so relaxed, which was just what we all needed. Their registrar is a neighbour and personal friend so they felt very familiar and in good hands. They laughed and cried in the vows they’d each written, and so did most of us watching. They signed the schedule and finished with some time to mingle with just their immediate families and grab some relaxed group shots in front of the big stripy curtains.
Then the guest went away for a break while we went for a wander across the bridge to the rose garden with Matt and Amy. It was fun to spot other people out enjoying the sun.
Their wedding day highlights:
“Getting honked at by a big bus while we were having our photos taken. Winning the quiz! The music. Our amazing venue and the beautiful sunset light. Doing our own vows even though it made Amy cry. Getting married. The whole day really!!”
their wedding reception
We came back to MK Gallery in time for evening guests arriving. The gallery team served up a big 70s buffet, complete with the cheese twists of dreams (they were giant)!
Then it was quiz time. Things got competitive and, in the end, it came down to Amy’s team vs her brother’s team… the bride and groom had the victory. How great are the custom pencils Amy’s mum got made as a surprise gift? They were perfect for scribbling down quiz notes and everyone wanted one as a souvenir.
Having got their hands on a victory medal, Matt & Amy cut the cake and kicked off the dancing. Their family were well up for a boogie.
The MK Gallery provided some great spots for photos after dark - Amy requested some with the big neon heart at the front of the building, which turned out to be a great shout.
P.S we’re still in love with the flowers from this wedding which are all UK blooms from Friday’s Flowers.
“ We all (extended family included) felt so relaxed and happy in your company and that is so clear to see in the photos. You’ve had so many compliments from all my family, everyone said how lovely you guys are! And those people are hard to please!”
