Tom and Ellie's Wedding at Gate Street Barn, Guildford
Just a little wedding masterclass in making it you.
“We celebrated our love of the outdoors, dungeons and dragons and all things fantasy fiction, our creativity and Ellie's obsession with triangles, plus the games were painted in the colour theme of Ellie's favourite book, The Night Circus. It all worked and everyone loved it.
Make it YOU. There's so much online which makes you feel like you need a specific theme or that you need to buy all of this extra stuff to make your wedding great but at the end of the day this is a day to celebrate you! if you want it, can afford it and both agree on it - do it!”
wedding morning preparations
We think it’s a great start to a wedding when everyone’s getting ready on site. It just makes everything a tad easier without travel logistics. Tom and Ellie had separate spaces to get ready with their friends.
As well as hair and makeup Ellie took a hot second to finish decorating the wedding cake (which she made!) before getting into her dress.
the wedding ceremony at Gate Street Barn
Reading personal vows from beautifully painted cards was such a gorgeous detail of this wedding. We love that these two wear their hearts on their sleeves so to speak, they held nothing back during their ceremony.
“Speeding down the aisle to get to Tom! I absolutely loved our ceremony with our vows and readings to personalise it.”
Ellie’s wedding highlight
Outside we covered them in confetti and took a big photo of the whole wedding. Then we moved on to the smaller formal groups, winding up with a bit of fun with the bridal party.
There was a bit of time to nip away with Tom & Ellie to the woodland while their guests munched some refreshments. It was fun to take their friend along with us to film some moments on her drone.
Then it was back to the barn for chatting and games outside. Ellie’s mum is part of a string quartet and they were wonderful!
their wedding reception
The wedding breakfast was at two long banqueting tables. Isn’t the styling gorgeous, I love the green glasses and little pops of white flowers. The raised plinths for serving food really made it feel like a feast.
Watching the crowd react to the speeches has to be one of my favourite parts of this job. There’s so much emotion towards the couple, so many memories and in-jokes, it’s great to witness as an outsider. We get such a wild insight into our couples in that little section of the day.
To finish off the meal after the speeches towers of treats were dished up, a bit like an afternoon tea. Then it was time to relax outside with drinks and more games in the sun.
Tom and Ellie cut that wonderful cake with a ridiculous sword, much to the delight of the crowd gathered round them.
The first dance was gorgeous. So was the fish and chip van, which I reckon might be the best way to keep your guests going for a long night of dancing.
Happy anniversary Tom & Ellie- love Nom x
“FAB FAB FAB!!! You guys are so on it with everything. I loved that Nom carried my lipstick for me throughout the day to make sure that I looked picture-perfect.”
