Matt and Aine's wedding at Ballyseede Castle in Tralee Ireland
An adventure for us over the water to Tralee to see these two get married with an international crowd of family and friends. And to top it all off there are resident dogs just chilling at the venue.
wedding morning preparations
Of course there was Guinness for Matt and the guys in the bar before greeting all the guests in the Orangery. Matt got his two best men some retro football shirts. They seemed pretty chuffed.
The ladies had a calm morning. Until they had to call housekeeping to help them with a tricky wasp. With that sorted, dressed and ready we gathered up Matt and Aine’s daughter Órlagh and the other flower girls ready to go to the ceremony room.

The plan was for Órlagh to lead the procession down the aisle riding in her baby Jeep, but she had other ideas and chose to be carried by her aunty instead. It was still incredibly cute.
Their candlelit ceremony was led by a friend, and full of wonderful blessings and rituals. Two of their work colleagues who’d travelled internationally to be them got to be official witnesses.
Everyone gathered on the front steps for a photo and confetti- Órlagh didn’t seem too impressed with that plan either.
We took a walk around the grounds for a short but beautiful couples photo session. Then made some time for Matt and Aine to chill with Órlagh and snacks before heading back into the party.
their wedding reception at ballyseede castle
There was lovely light in the orangery, and more snacks while guests waited for the bell to ring to signal it was time to take their seats. We’ve never seen it an English wedding, but using a bell to signal the start of each section of the day was really effective, if you’re planning a wedding maybe steal that idea.
The bridesmaids, best men, Matt & Aine got to chat with a few drinks downstairs before making their grand entrance with personal theme tunes. It was a good long wedding breakfast with hilarious speeches. They had a bridesmaids to MC this section of the day and she did a wonderful job. They even had a Taskmaster challenge for each table: to make a picture of the wedding with things they could find in the room.
We danced the night away with The Bentley Boys band. And could have stayed all night watching the shenanigans (guests making human pyramids?!) but it was time to wrap things up with a sparklers outside.
Happy anniversary Matt & Aine!
