Ben and erica’s WEDDING at highbury hall, birmingham
The whole day was brilliant, but stand-out moments include the ceilidh (the blessing dance!), and Erica’s toy crocodile abseiling from the balcony. Just a generally very good day.
wedding morning preparations
Team Erica rented an Airbnb and did most of their getting ready there, then moved over to Highbury Hall to get dressed. It’s really fun getting ready in the fancy bedroom there and swanning around like you own the place. Ben and the guys got ready at Highfield Town House which is just down the road.
the wedding ceremony at Highbury hall
The ceremony was downstairs in Highbury’s ceremony room, with French windows looking out across the garden.
Their piper (Chris) led the procession of guests through to the bar for drinks and chatting. We started with family portraits upstairs as the weather had become quite soggy, so outside was less appealing. As it started to dry off we took our chances in the gardens with the bridal party and couple’s photos around the grounds of the hall.
Ben & Erica had their grand staircase moment, entering the wedding breakfast with their guests waiting for them. They had speeches before food, starting with Erica’s brother presenting them with a quaich. Then her Dad had us all chuckling as he lowered her childhood crocodile toy from the balcony in a basket to finish his speech.
Dinner was delicious!
Then we moved back into the room where the wedding ceremony had been for the ceilidh. The Burdock Band weaved their magic, getting everyone up and moving. We love their wedding blessing dance where guests sprinkle good wishes on the happy couple as they sit in the middle of the dance. It made for some seriously aggressive facial expressions in pictures!
Tucked in the side room we had a heap of fun with the guests in the photo booth. It’s always nice to have somewhere quiet for people to take a break between dancing.
Thanks for having us Ben & Erica. Happy anniversary- love Nom x
“They integrated into our day so seamlessly, our guests have told us how much they loved meeting them. They put everyone at ease, and chatted to everyone finding out little bits about our guests. “
“ We had so much fun meeting you both, and our guests loved you as well”
