john & megan’s WEDDING in the cotswolds

We’ve known Meg a long while, and have been delighted to get to know John as they planned their wedding. A lot was thrown at them in the run-up to getting married, so we were incredibly glad to see this day take place. It was a magical day, make sure you check out their stop motion video above.

wedding morning preparations

Meg’s team were all getting ready in this sweet little cottage in the Cotswolds. It was buzzing with anticipation for the sparkly dress and the day to come.

We got some blustery photos before getting in the car to drive over to the village hall. I was with some of the bridesmaids in the car for a crazy moment when the traffic stopped to let a military plane fly very close over the road as it came into land.

Malc met up with John at the Village Hall where he and the best men were finishing get the hall and themselves ready.

the wedding ceremony at Barrington Village Hall

There were so many incredible moments in John and Meg’s ceremony. The bridal procession twinkled in their sequins under the fairy lights then Meg walked in with her Mum, there were readings and a song from their friends, and then they shared vows and sipped from the quiach. At the end, we all headed outside into the sunshine and a tornado of white confetti.

Guests walked round to the sheep field next door for photos, and mooched around the village hall with glasses of bubbles. Inside, the Chip Norton Tea Set team set up tables of floral crockery and treats. The sunshine was really on our side lighting up the bubbles in the champagne. Doesn’t their table set-up look incredible?

There was a robust set of speeches full of funny stories, sweet memories and a celebrity message or two from John’s favourite metal bands shared by the best men. A huge highlight of the day was Meg’s godfather hosting their wedding quiz. It was so fun to watch the teams debating their answers and getting competitive.

The party

There was a very special birthday girl at this wedding. If you asked her she’d tell you it was her wedding day, and since she was turning four who were we to stop her? Meg and John bought her cute presents but the real treat was having two of her favourite songs to start off the dancing, with a whole crowd gathered around and cheering her on. Then Meg and John got their turn before everyone joined them for the party. John even took to the mic at one point to sing, which we loved (thanks DJ Ed SteeleFox for making that magic moment happen, and for making a fun appearance in the stop motion).

While the dance floor was popping off there was pizza outside the hall [editing pizza photos makes me so hungry] and people chatting under the festoon lights. From the balcony, guests could spy on the dancing and take silly photos in the photo booth.
