elliott & Liz’s WEDDING
Two of our favourite venues for a wedding all on one day- these guys took their guests to the pub then hopped on a coach to host their reception at home.
wedding morning preparations
Liz rented a little place for the girls to get ready which was really fun, they even had a hot tub outside. She got ready with her sisters and had a friend do her makeup. Her Dad drove them to the church in their electric car and I hopped in a car with the bridesmaids.
Malc joined Elliott and the guys at home making sure it was ready for the evening reception. They’d set up gazebos in the garden but the wind was making that a little more tricky.
a church wedding ceremony
Their ceremony was at St Helen’s in Ashby-de-la-Zouch. It was a simple service starting with the bridal party procession. There were lots of thoughtful touches, the vicar even mentioned their sweet pup Mollie!
As the bells rang guests fired confetti for a big photo with all the guests. It was swirling around the group photos like something out of Pochahontas. There was more confetti as their guests made a tunnel to their car. Guests jumped on the coach and we went for photos at a reservoir nearby. I love it when we get to take the bride and groom to a public place, people are always excited to see them and say the sweetest things.
The wedding breakfast at The Dragon at Whittington
The Dragon was the perfect, relaxed spot for their meal. Everyone had ordered in advance so they just took a seat and food was brought to them. It’s one of our favourite pubs (highly recommend it if you’re looking for a canalside pub and a little stroll).
Liz & Elliott cut their beautiful wedding cake and it was served as dessert.
We were able to grab a quiet moment between courses for some relaxed group photos by the canal with the groomsmen and bridesmaids.
The speeches were short and sweet then everyone jumped back on the bus, with the bride and groom this time, to head to their reception.
Their favourite things
“The food! Great to have all our favourite people meet and be in one room.”
their wedding reception at home
Check this out for an incredibly relaxed plan: come back to our place for a chippie tea, chats in the garden, games in the kitchen and a boogie in the conservatory.
It was a sunny evening so most people grabbed a drink and sat chatting in the garden as the sun went down. Someone popped to the chip shop a few doors down to pick up the fish and chip order. They handed them out and I got to follow offering all kinds of sauces- dream job! People gradually moved inside as it got chilly and gathered around the bar set up in the kitchen and took a dip in the chocolate fountain. There were a few games of beer pong then a very chilled out dancefloor in the conservatory surrounded by fairy lights.
Happy anniversary Liz & Elliott! There’ll never be another wedding quite like this one, thanks for inviting us. Nom x
