Lucy & lloyd’S WEDDING at bilston Brook Wedding Barn, Lichfield
These two split their day between St Mary’s Bearwood and the barn at Bilston Brook. We love it when a wedding shows off our fine home city of Birmingham, these two had some beautiful scenes of the Staffordshire countryside too.
You can see it all in our stop motion wedding video!
We met Lucy and Lloyd through Instagram and had fun finding loads of mutual friends (some of them even featured in the wedding). They were having a big wedding with lots of people and wanted plenty of group photos to honour their guests. We helped them work out the timings to split the groups over two sites and also worked with the beautiful quickly-shifting autumn light.
wedding morning preparations
Lucy wanted to get married in her neighbourhood of Bearwood. She got ready at home and it was just a short drive to the church. The house was bustling with the hair and make-up team in the lounge, and bridesmaids scattered around getting into their dresses.

the wedding ceremony at St Mary’s, Bearwood
It was our first time in the beautiful St Mary’s Bearwood. Malc got there ahead of Lloyd and the lads, and was handed a cup of tea within moments. Lloyd and the lads arrived in their kilts - looking sharp
We had friendly chats with Lloyd’s lovely relatives who’d travelled to the Midlands from farming country in Northumberland. Lloyd is an understated guy but he’s obviously popular by the looks of the big hugs he got from friends and family as they arrived at St Mary’s.
It was a beautiful service with music from friends, prayers from friends and contributions from their church family. The preacher even got Lloyd to do a twirl in his kilt. Sounds from outside occasionally wafted in and made us smile: there was a group rapping outside Aldi across the road. I love the cross-over of normal life butting in on a wedding day.
The guests spilled outside for a huge confetti line, the far end reaching almost to Aldi, where the newlyweds gave the rappers a wave and they all cheered.
Nothing makes us happier than a massive box of samosas (another top Brummie move). Inside their church pals served up samosas and drinks. Let me tell you, that is how to keep everyone happy.

their wedding reception at BILSTON Brook Wedding Barn, Lichfield
Over at Bilston Brook we had a few quiet moments with Lucy and Lloyd for photos before guests got there. The Shetland ponies even got involved for a few pictures too.
We had been able to grab a few family photos as the guests got ready for confetti and the church, and we completed the set once everyone had arrived at the barn. The sunlight was incredible and we were able to soak up the last few rays as people mingled with arrival drinks.

Inside was set up with long tables. Guests went up to choose their food then sat chatting. Lucy and Lloyd had put together a tricky wedding crossword which got everyone sharing stories.
After dinner it was time for the speeches. They were a mixture of intensely heart-felt and very silly; one of Lloyd’s best men is a stand-up comedian so the expectations were high!
Knitters Jig, their ceilidh band trio, got everyone involved. And it was a proper ceilidh! We had fun keeping up with all their moves. There’s a smaller room off to the side which was perfect to have a break from the dancing. We set up the photo booth in there… conveniently near to the sweetie cart.
Before long it was time to send off Lucy & Lloyd, everyone came outside to wave them off with sparklers in front of the barn.
Happy anniversary you two- love Nom & Malc x

“They went above and beyond to be helpful throughout the process - from giving us some handy tips to consider whilst planning, through to helping the groomsmen put on buttonholes and making sure we got a some of our refreshments (a Samosa!) before leaving the church to head onto the reception.
In short: GREAT photos, GREAT people and a GREAT choice for your special occasion.”
