craig & lucy’S WEDDING at Hogarths Stone Manor, Kidderminster

Their engagement photos

Ghosts and ghouls came out to play at Craig and Lucy’s excellent Halloween wedding at Hogarths Stone Manor in Kidderminster. Two of those ghosts were us…

We’ve been in love with Craig and Lucy’s wedding since we met the two of them and their kids for a pre-wedding shoot and chatted about the plan.

The plan was simple: for everyone to have loads of fun.

wedding morning preparations

Hogarths was looking incredible, its a gorgeous venue and Lucy & Craig had put loads of work into the decor: carved pumpkins, crocheted Halloween decorations got a skeleton and given him a top hat.

Malc had big laughs with Craig and his mates from Cannock. They enjoyed a groomen’s brunch and a couple of rounds of baby Guinness.

Craig and Lucy’s kids had fun in the morning getting ready with their Mum and the girls. Their daughter Lucy even tried on the wedding dress for a few pictures.

Craig was welling up as their kids walked down the aisle and definitely crying as Lucy and her Grandad arrived at the top of the aisle. It was extra special to have live music for their entrance by guitarist Stuart Toogood. I know Lucy and Craig highly recommend him!

We love the outdoor ceremony space at Hogarths, decorated by Malc’s sister (Floral Jazz) and with Lucy and Craig’s children and parents watching from the front row. It was a gorgeous Autumn day, and really special to be able to get married outside.

With all the legal bits tied up Lucy and Craig walked back down the aisle as man and wife! Their guests scattered confetti over them. We got everyone together for a big group picture then a few family groups. Because all their guests were already together it didn’t take long, and as each group finished we sent them off to find some fun in the walled garden.

With just Lucy, Craig and their kids left we had a quick photo session around the grounds. Then the little ones went to play and we had good old laugh getting pictures of Lucy & Craig.

They got a big cheer as they caught up with their guests in the walled garden. Honestly, we could have stayed there all day: they had drinks, snacks and cakes, as well as a bouncy castle and gladiator duel! Everyone was relaxed and having a good time. Watching people battle was one of our favourite moments of the day.

Their reception room was set up ready for the meal. Each table had a pumpkin the family had carved. And each guest had a miniature bottle of booze as their wedding favour in special Halloween flavours, the blood orange one was delicious! There was more music from Stuart Toogood who played for the whole meal!

Guests went to check into their hotel rooms and transformed into their Halloween outfits. When they came back the room was ready to party. There was a face painting stall ready to complete their look with The Merry Brush. The band The Wilde Ones were ready on the dancefloor (they are an exceptional indie wedding band - all the way from Leeds!). And we had the photo booth for everyone to get their own creepy portraits and pop them in the guest book.

The fancy dress was such a big highlight of this day. It really made for a fun evening. We loved catching up with some old friends, who were dressed as Scooby Doo and the whole Mystery Incorporated gang. If you keep an eye out you’ll spot us snapping away in our ghost costumes.

There was the most amazing fireworks display, with guests cuddling up together to watch. It was set to emotional tunes and had plenty of people in tears (again!).

After the fireworks, while guests were distracted by the evening food, Lucy and Craig snuck off to get into their costumes. We loved how they committed to their Corpse Bride outfits, even though Lucy only got to have her wig on for about 3 minutes before a tipsy Craig stole it to wear for the rest of the night.

This wedding was a masterclass in how to plan a fun wedding.

Lucy and Craig had planned their day to be fun for the kids, but it worked for the adults too, we’re all just big kids anyway.

Congratulations on your first anniversary you two. Big love Nom & Malc x

“ Naomi and Maclolm have not only made us feel at ease but we're fantastic with our two young children. The guests themselves commented on how warm, welcoming and friendly they are. They bring high levels of energy and passion in everything they do and that shows In their work. ”
