ANDREW AND KERRY’S WEDDING
- A COVID-SAFE WEDDING IN CHESTER
This sweet couple showed everyone how to have a truly great celebration and make the best of 2020. Malc was on the VIP guest list as their photographer, and he loved it.
Wedding morning preparations
I met Andrew and his groomsmen, who were putting some finishing touches to a welcoming, spacious church.
After a few photos there I left Andrew to get on with things and nipped around the corner to see Kerry. She was hiding away with the bridesmaids and her family next door, where they had a big window to spy on all the action outside the church. They had a quick bite to eat and some last-minute hugs with the family before they walked to the church. The vicar’s wife and kids were waiting outside to catch a glimpse of Kerry in her dress.
Church wedding ceremony
Andrew was greeting the family guests as they arrived and having a good laugh with his groomsmen but I could tell he was already emotional. And he couldn’t hold in the tears when Kerry walked down the aisle.
It was obvious from the glowing words of their friends in the service how much people love and value Andrew and Kerry.
They chose to get married in their regular church (Christ Church Chester), and their vicar was clearly beaming as he took the service. A bridesmaid and a groomsman lead the prayers, and a friend with an incredible voice sang worship songs. There was a real feeling of warmth from all the guests, and it felt like people were extra joyful to be part of such a beautiful wedding in COVID times. People smiled all day.
wedding group photos
When the service was over, the wedding party walked out of the church and spotted more friends who’d been waiting patiently outside.
After some group photos, A&K took me to explore their neighbourhood which is just around the corner from the church. It was a great location for photos of the two of them, in the streets that mean so much to them.
We had fun dodging the rain until a friend came to take them to their reception. He was all decked out as a fancy chauffeur! I love the effort people went put in to make this wedding extra special.
outdoor takeaway pizzas for a covid safe wedding reception
Their wedding was reception was in this sweet little orchard around the back of another local church. Guests were there ready to greet them with surprise confetti.
The space had been set up with a separate marquee for each family bubble to sit in, surrounding Andrew & Kerry in their own marquee in the middle. And it looked beautiful with bunting to decorate and link everything together.
They got pizza delivered for each table. That’s the best low-fuss way to deal with covid safe wedding catering, right? And a real people pleaser too.
And there was homemade wedding cake to finish off the celebration perfectly.
Happy anniversary Kerry & Andrew! - Malc : )
