ALEX & RACHEL’S WEDDING
Shooting a wedding with a castle is dreamy. But photographing a wedding with Margam Castle and Margam Orangery is an absolute dream. And to top it all off this wedding had dogs as guests.
If you’re wondering if you should bring your dog to your wedding, this wedding says 100% yes.
Bridal Preparations
Rachel and the girls started the day with brunch in the garden and raised a toast or two to the bride. As they got ready they were joined by the sweetest little flower girl. She’d brought gifts with her for Rachel, which got everyone choked up.
The boys stayed the night in a house right next to Margam Abbey so they only had a little walk to get to the ceremony. They had a cute addition to their team too, the Best Man’s little boy providing ‘Ring Security’- he looked ridiculously cool in his shades.
The Wedding ceremony at Margam abbey
It was cool and quiet inside the church as the girls arrived to walk down the aisle under the watchful eye of one of the wedding dogs. I loved spotting him dozing in the aisle during the ceremony. They had a Male Voice Choir who filled the space with the most incredible sound. Look how happy these two look saying their vows, they don’t look nervous at all, just excited to be making it official!
Once they’d tied the knot their guests heaped confetti on the new Mr & Mrs as they left the church. Then they hopped in the wedding car while their bagpiper lead guests through to the Orangery.
We took Alex & Rachel up to the castle to take a few photos on their own. We loved working with Olivia Made This- it’s a lot of fun taking portraits alongside videographers who work in a relaxed way with their couples like we do. Also, it’s really nice to have someone around to hang out with all day.
wedding reception at Margam Orangery
Back down at the Orangery it was time for canapés- they served up the cutest little fish and chips I’ve ever seen. Such a good way to keep everyone happy. We had some time to take group photos as well, with the ruins providing the perfect backdrop.
Inside the tables looked stunning with floral arrangements on high gold stands (shout out to their florist I love Lily who’s work was beautiful at every turn).
Alex and Rachel made their entrance and took their seats at the top table. There were such thoughtful touches throughout the day in memory of Alex’s Dad. Seeing the place reserved for him at the top table was particularly moving. We loved hearing so many fond mentions of him.
The Margam Orangery staff served up the most delicious food- look at that perfect roast! Guests got up to all kind of mischief during the meal with the instant cameras Alex & Rachel had provided. And the giggles continued during the speeches…
There was a pooch-petting break while the room was switched into evening mode. Guests relaxed in the park and we took photos of the wedding dogs. Then we headed in to see Alex & Rachel cut the cake and have their first dance.
Blue Lion Band brought such high energy to the dance floor. The guests were loving the vibe.
